Tulevaisuuden hoitoa ikääntyneille
Tammikuussa alkanut, ikääntyneiden hyvinvointia edistävä ACTIVAGE-hanke on eräs Euroopan kärkihankkeista. Siinä määritellään Internet of Things (IoT) teknologian hyödyntämistä ikääntyneiden hoidossa. Hankkeessa tähdätään mittaviin hyötyihin ikääntyneiden hyvinvoinnissa, ja tavoitteena on mahdollistaa kotona asuminen entistä pidempään.
– Esittelemme nyt Suomen-pilotissa tehtäviä testauksia, joita suoritetaan EU-hankkeen määrittelemien kriteerien mukaisesti. On mielenkiintoista kertoa, miten olemme päässeet mukaan määrittelemään niitä käytäntöjä ja yhteisiä toimintatapoja, joista tulevaisuudessa on todennäköisesti muodostumassa EU-standardeja ja jotka vaikuttavat näin terveydenhuoltoalaan ja -bisnekseen ympäri maailman, kertoo tutkimusjohtaja Mika Luimula Turun AMK:sta.

Future care for the elderly
The ACTIVAGE project, which promotes the well-being of the elderly, is one of the European spear-head projects. It was launched in January, and it defines utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT) technology in the care of the elderly. The project aims at significant benefits in the well-being of the elderly, and the goal is to enable living at home longer.
– We will now present the tests conducted in the Finnish pilot, carried out according to the criteria defined by the EU project. It is interesting to get to tell how we have been included in defining these practices and the joint ways of action. They will likely in the future become EU standards and will thus affect the health care field and business all over the world, says Research Group Leader Mika Luimula from TUAS.
